UDSL Welcomes Two New Faculty

We are excited to welcome two new members to the faculty and staff of the University of Dayton School of Law’s Program in Law and Technology (PILT).

The internationally-recognized PILT program was established in 1989, as a commitment by UDSL to produce graduates who are well-versed in law and technology issues. The program provides students with a solid foundation in several areas: patent law; copyright and trademark law; business dimensions of intellectual property law (particularly the licensing of intellectual property); and computer/cyberspace law.

Kelly Henrici has joined us as the Executive Director of the Program in Law and Technology.  Some of her plans, in collaboration with faculty and staff, include the implementation of the L.L.M./Masters program in intellectual property (approval of the Ohio Board of Regents is pending); assisting with student recruitment, externship and placement opportunities; and leading external events, such as continuing legal education programs on intellectual property (including the Computer and Cyberspace Law conference on June 8, 2007).

Ms. Henrici most recently served as General Counsel and Secretary for the Relizon Company, a Dayton-based business communications firm focused on document, billing and marketing solutions.  She was previously Corporate Counsel at the Reynolds and Reynolds Company, a provider of computer systems to the automotive market.  She is a regular presenter at events focused on intellectual property negotiations.

Ms. Henrici earned her J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law and is one of many prominent graduates from the Program in Law and Technology.

Ken Germain has joined UD as a Distinguished Professorial Practitioner in Residence to teach intellectual property-oriented students and to help strengthen PILT.  He leads the trademark practice group in the Cincinnati office of Thompson Hine LLP and focuses his practice on trademark counseling, consulting, and litigation. He is often an expert witness on issues relating to trademarks and unfair competition.

Prof. Germain is a frequent presenter at events focused on intellectual property as well as a prolific publisher, having written articles for The Annual Review of U.S. Trademark Law. He serves on the Advisory Council for the J. Thomas McCarthy Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Law and is the founder and continuing chairman of the All Ohio Annual Institute on Intellectual Property seminar, which recently held its 15th annual statewide program.

Prof. Germain earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the N.Y.U. Law Review
