Before going to law school, Professor Wawrose taught Basic Writing and English as a Second Language at three campuses of the City University of New York: Hunter College, Bronx Community College, and The Bernard M. Baruch College.  While at Northeastern, she completed four 12-week cooperative-learning experiences (“co-ops”) at the office of the university’s General Counsel, the law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacCrae, the Boston law firm of Palmer and Dodge, and the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund in Denver, Colorado.

After graduation, she worked as an associate in the Litigation Department of Palmer & Dodge, where she was a member of the firm’s environmental law group and focused on hazardous waste cost recovery actions under CERCLA and RCRA. She also participated in the firm’s pro bono program and represented, among others, indigent tenants facing eviction.

After moving to Ohio, Prof. Wawrose spent three years as a staff attorney at the appellate court for Ohio’s Twelfth Appellate District where she was the law clerk for the Honorable James E. Walsh.  She joined the School of Law as a faculty member in the Legal Profession Program in 1998.
