The University of Dayton School of Law is committed to encouraging people of diverse backgrounds and experiences to join our student body. Each year, our entering class consists of approximately 44% females and 11-19% ethnic minorities. The age range of each class has been 19-61, and they come from over 30 different states and 5 different countries. Over 100 different colleges and 63 majors are represented by each entering class. Approximately 6-12% of each incoming class has an advanced degree.
Annually, we award a significant number of Legal Opportunity Scholarships for our entering students based on their diverse backgrounds and interests. Students may participate in programs such as the Minority Summer Judicial Clerkship Program, Minority Summer Externship Program and in regional minority career fairs.
With support from the faculty, fellow students and the administration, student organizations such as the Black Law Student Association, Women’s Caucus, Cyberspace Law Association, the Environmental Law Society, the Christian Legal Society, and Phi Alpha Delta, to name just a few, support and encourage students of all backgrounds and interests.
Our Academic Excellence Program, open to all entering students, assists in helping students adjust to the rigors of law school and provides helpful information on studying and exam-taking. Our nondiscrimination policy is critical to our mission in emphasizing the educational and social enrichment that diversity brings to the School of Law, the community and the legal profession.
