Susan is the Program Manager for The National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton (NCCJ), a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry, and racism and promoting understanding and respect through education, advocacy and conflict resolution.
Ms. Sibbing joined NCCJ in December of 2003. She has developed and delivered programs targeted at young children pre-K through 5th grade with the newest program being “Literacy and Inclusion for Preschoolers, Parents and Staff” (LIPPS). NCCJ is delivering this program to staff, parents and children of the of the Miami Valley Child Development Head Start program. In 2004, Ms. Sibbing designed the program “Changing In The Middle” directed toward middle school aged students. In the winter of 2005 she developed “Agents of Change” a nine week diversity and inclusion program aimed at high school students. This program has been ongoing at the Fairfield Freshman School for three years. Most recently she completed and piloted “Coming Together – Moving Forward” a day for high school students to explore diversity and inclusion at their schools.
In the fall of 2004, NCCJ became the primary sponsor of the Teen Summits for Nonviolence and Inclusion. Under the guidance and leadership of Ms. Sibbing the Teen Summits have grown to include participation by 35 high schools from the Greater Dayton area.
Currently Ms. Sibbing is a member of the Cultural and Ethnic Caucus for the Community Summit on Eliminating Racism, and Advises the Youth Caucus. Before coming to NCCJ, Ms. Sibbing worked for twelve years for Head Start in the area of social service and parent involvement. Nine of those years she held jobs at Council on Rural Services Head Start including Manger of Operations for their nine county program. She spent three years with the Ohio Head Start Association as Director of Family and Community Relations. Before joining Head Start Ms. Sibbing worked with the elderly, mentally ill, and spent many years volunteering in the Dayton community.
Ms. Sibbing received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Wright State University. She has been politically active in the Dayton/Montgomery County area managing numerous campaigns and serving for eight years on the Dayton City School Board.
