All computers must have XP Pro SP3, Vista Business or Ultimate to connect to the UDSL Domain.
For a Compliant Machine we will:
· Examine the computer for file sharing software and remove it if found
· Examine the machine for any malicious software and remove it if found
· Join the machine to the UDSL domain
· Install Office 2007 at no charge; if necessary
· Install Acrobat Reader at no charge; if necessary
· Push/install Symantec Endpoint Antivirus protection automatically
· Push Configuration Manager Client
· Push Firewall Client for special apps such as Hotmail, etc...
· Push Microsoft critical updates as needed.
· Internet connection from home is student’s responsibility
All Computers with any version of Microsoft XP Home or Vista Home are not compatible with UDSL Domain.
For a Non-Compliant Machine we will:
· Add a shortcut on users Desktop for Remote Desktop Protocol access to the terminal servers.
· Show how to use and give written directions to get Internet, printing, Microsoft Office, network storage, etc. on the terminal server.
· Give instruction sheet for self installation of Microsoft Office, Endpoint, etc. from http://software.udayton.edu for local use; if needed.
· Internet connection from home is student’s responsibility
Upgrade to Compliance available either through reseller where machine was purchased or we can upgrade as time permits for $70 plus Microsoft license fees. The student must provide a Vista Business Operating System CD which can be purchased through the UD Computer store for $29.95.
· If you have Vista Home Premium – and you wish to rebuild your computer to use on the UDSL domain, you will lose the following features:
o No games, not even Solitaire
o No Media Center or Xbox 360 functionality
o No BitLocker hard drive encryption software
o No Ultimate "extras", which could include games and special utilities
o Inability to install new languages for use in Windows
o No Movie Maker or DVD Maker
o No Parental Controls
o Inability to run UNIX-based applications (through SUA)
For Mac OS 10.5 or higher (Leopard) we will:
· Join the machine to UDSL domain – gives access to Internet and printing however:
o No push of updates
o No Configuration Manager
o No firewall client
· Give instruction sheet for self installation of Microsoft Office, etc from http://software.udayton.edu for local use.
· Users with Apple's Mac OSX v.10.5 (Leopard) or higher laptops can run SofTest in Windows XP or Vista installed via Apple's Boot Camp.
· Users responsibility to install Boot Camp and chosen OS or we can upgrade as time permits for $70 plus Microsoft license fees. The student must provide a Vista Business Operating System CD which can be purchased through the UD Computer store for $29.95.
· Internet connection from home is student’s responsibility
