Richard Perna serves as both a Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. He determines the curriculum and class schedule, counsels students regarding classes, and oversees the academic functions and general administration for the School of Law.
Dean Perna joined the School of Law faculty in 1982. He was the director of the Law Clinic for five years and previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 1992 to 1998. After graduating from Villanova University School of Law in 1975, Dean Perna joined the Community Legal Services, Inc., of Philadelphia as a staff attorney. He later became a managing supervising attorney at the firm. In 1979 he began his teaching career at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law as a lecturer and clinical supervisor before coming to the University of Dayton.
