After graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center and serving two years in the army, James Brogan briefly joined a small law firm before becoming an assistant prosecuting attorney in Montgomery County for eleven years. He was named Ohio’s Outstanding Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in 1980 and was also selected as a Fellow to the American College of Trial Lawyers. Later that year, Judge Brogan was elected judge of the Ohio Second District Court of Appeals, where he continues to preside today. He has authored more than 2,000 decisions, including several as an associate justice on the Ohio Supreme Court. Judge Brogan was elected Chief Justice of the Ohio Courts of Appeals Association in 1996 and chaired the Ohio Judicial College in 1998 and 1999.
In addition to serving as an adjunct professor for the School of Law, Judge Brogan has taught at Sinclair Community College for more than 30 years and is an instructor at the Dayton Police Academy.
