Located in southwest Ohio, the city of Dayton boasts a history of innovation, a vibrant cultural scene, a growing metropolitan area of more than 800,000, and an affordable, comfortable Midwest lifestyle.

Dayton is home of aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright, poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, inventions such as the cash register and beverage can pop top, and more patents per capita than any other U.S. city.

Corporations such as NCR, Huffy Bicycles, and LexisNexis have made the Gem City their headquarters, and Dayton attracts thousands of visitors each year to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, which houses President John F. Kennedy’s Air Force One, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The base also hosted the 1995 Dayton Accords, a peace agreement between the Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian presidents after war in the Baltic region.

Downtown Dayton offers a thriving cultural and recreational scene with a minor league baseball stadium for the Dayton Dragons; bike trails, boat rentals, gardens, and fountains at RiverScape along the Great Miami River; restaurants and bars in the historic Oregon District; and several theaters including the ornate Victoria Theatre and the new Schuster Performing Arts Center, where the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Dayton Opera perform.

The Dayton Ballet Company and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company also practice and perform downtown. Festivals are frequent during the summer, and an ice skating rink is erected during the winter. Several buildings downtown have also been converted to loft apartments – an increasingly popular housing option among law students and young professionals.

Art enthusiasts will delight in the internationally renowned Dayton Art Institute, historians will marvel at Carillon Park’s one-room schoolhouse, and hockey fans will root for the Dayton Bombers, the city’s minor league hockey team. The Dayton area is also home to more than 100 law firms and the Dayton Bar Association, and Cincinnati and Columbus are a short drive away.

Dayton is a diverse, medium-sized city with something to offer for every taste and age.
