Externship Fair:
11:30 – 1:00 pm in the UDSL Atrium

Come and meet with various law students seeking to do their required, unpaid externships in the fall 2009 or spring 2010 – perhaps with your office or court!  You will be given the opportunity to discuss your experience, practice areas, and background; talk to the students about the types of things they can expect to be exposed to and do in an externship placement with your office; and informally interview students regarding their skills, qualifications, and preferences for a possible externship.  Students are expected to bring their resumes to the Externship Fair.  You are encouraged to bring brochures, literature, and business cards to the Externship Fair. Please consider sending 1-2 representatives from your office or court for some networking and recruiting opportunities!    A complimentary lunch will be provided to those attending the Externship Fair. 
   
Complimentary CLE on “Mentoring and Supervising the Millennial Generation”:
1:30 – 4:00 pm in the UDSL Mathias H. Heck Courtroom

·  A request has been made to the Ohio Supreme Court for 2.5 CLE hours, including:

o     1.0 Hour – Ethics (“Providing Ethical Supervision”)
o     1.0 Hour – Professionalism (“Supervising the Millennial Generation”)
o     0.5 Hour – Substance Abuse

You are invited to attend a complimentary CLE on “Mentoring and Supervising the Millennial Generation.”  Everyone from externship field supervisors, newly admitted lawyers, senior partners, staff attorneys, and in-house corporate counsel is invited.  The CLE will: (1) explore the various ethical responsibilities lawyers have to provide adequate supervision to their staff and teach the basic techniques of good feedback and proper supervision of law students and new lawyers working in their offices; (2) underscore the distinct challenges of working with and supervising individuals of the millennial generation; and (3) focus on recognizing patterns of behavior that might indicate a substance abuse or mental health problem in lawyer and non-lawyer staff and providing tips for helping those staff members get the assistance they need.
