Dru Bruns knows money doesn’t grow on trees. As Business Manager of the School of Law, she approves all law school spending and purchase requests. She works with the Dean and Associate Dean to prepare the yearly budget, reviews monthly printouts, handles all personnel paperwork, and is in charge of building security. Ms. Bruns also oversees the mailroom and general administration in the Dean’s Suite.
A staff member for more than 15 years, she began as a secretary for the Registrar and Associate Dean before gradually taking on more responsibilities. Before coming to the School of Law, she worked as a religious school secretary for Temple Israel in Dayton. Ms. Bruns likes the challenge of her current position, as well as the opportunity to interact with students. “And of course I enjoy working with numbers and figures!” she says.
Her four granddaughters keep her busy while not working, and Ms. Bruns also enjoys scrapbooking and creating miniatures such as miniature dollhouses. She is an active member and past president of the Dayton Miniature Club. Ms. Bruns also likes hiking and bicycling with her husband.
