Fair and Acceptable Use Policy
The University of Dayton has a policy that does not tolerate any illegal file sharing. The University of Dayton School of Law has its own policy regarding this issue, which does not allow for UDSL students to have any Peer to Peer software on their computers, as P2P software supports illegal file-sharing. If you have software of this nature on your computer, you will not be allowed onto the UDSL network. Read more about P2P software.

Loaners
For students who purchase a Dell computer through the UDSL Laptop Purchase Program, should their computers need to be sent in for repairs, loaner computers are available. No other loaners are available. See the Technology Office for details on how this program works.
Printing Pages
All students have printing accounts; these accounts track the pages each student prints from the network computers within the Law School. Students receive 500 free printer pages per semester. After they use their 500 pages, they can purchase additional pages from the Information Technology office (room 416) for $5 for 100 pages.
The 500 initial pages do not carry over to from semester to semester; additional purchased pages, however, do carry over for one semester, provided that the student is enrolled in classes during the semester that the pages roll over to.
CTC Rules
The CTC, Computing Training Center, is located in the Law Library, room 212R. Lab terminals are available for the use of UDSL students, and each student is given their login name and password at the beginning of their first year. Students must use their own login when accessing the lab terminals, and be sure to log out of the session when they are finished.
The terminals in the lab are the property of UDSL, and special care must be taken to ensure that they are not damaged so they can continue to be in working order for all students. Therefore, we have instituted the following procedures for the CTC:
- No food or drink, of any kind, is allowed in the lab (even drinks that are in containers approved for use in the library)
- No children are allowed in the CTC even if they are supervised
- The CTC is for currently enrolled UDSL students only, no exceptions
*If your computer runs any operating system other than Windows XP Pro, you will need to upgrade to XP Pro. Before doing the upgrade, you should ensure that all the data on your machine is backed up to a removable storage device, and you should have available the system recovery CD that came with your computer at the time of purchase.
