The Honorable Barbara Gorman

Education:
     B.A. with honors, Marquette University, 1970
     M.A., University of Dayton, 1974
     J.D. summa cum laude, University of Dayton, 1977

Barbara Gorman is a judge with the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. She chairs the Judicial Personnel Committee and served as Administrative Judge from 1998-2000.

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Dayton School of Law, Judge Gorman worked for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the civil and criminal divisions. Ten years later, in 1987, Judge Gorman was the first woman to be named a General Division judge for the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

She is a member of the Dayton and Ohio State Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, Dayton Women’s Bar Association, and the National Association of Women Judges. She is a member and past president of both the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association and the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court. Judge Gorman sits on the Legal Aid Society of Dayton Board of Trustees, Christ Child Society of Dayton, and the Chaminade-Julienne High School Board of Trustees. She has served as an adjunct professor for the School of Law since 1987 and is a member of the Advisory Council.
