Alumni Events

UDSL alumni have settled far and wide, bringing the training and passion that began in UDSL classrooms to their diverse careers all over the country. According to January, 2007 data, the Dayton UDSL alumni chapter boasts the biggest pocket of law grads, nearly 1,100 (25% of all UDSL graduates). But there are also about 400 UDSL alums in Cincinnati, 200 in New York, 160 in the D.C. area, and just over 100 in Philadelphia.

Alumni events are a great way for UDSL alumni who can’t always make a trip back to Dayton to catch up with former classmates, hear about what’s new at the School of Law, and network with other alumni they may not have realized are living in the same city.

“These types of events are a great way for our alumni to stay connected,” said Deborah Adler, UDSL alumna and Director of Development. “Alumni have many opportunities to help current students through externships and clerkships, which raise the reputation of the law school and make everyone’s law degree more valuable. The School is expanding beyond being a regional law school. We are becoming a presence in cities that used to be untapped markets. We are proving UDSL grads can hold their own with graduates from any other law school.”

At a recent event in Pittsburgh on June 14, 2007, Pitt-area law alumni welcomed the Honorable Judge Walter H. Rice back to his hometown at a dinner to raise scholarship support for law students at UDSL. The dinner and reception were held at LeMont on Mount Washington overlooking the city. Dean Kloppenberg and Judge Rice both offered remarks on the importance of scholarships, and caught up with graduates ranging from the 80’s to members of the class of 2007.

In August, all graduates of the University of Dayton and their families and friends who will be attending the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco are invited to a reception at the law offices of Duane Morris on August 8, 2007, from 5-8pm. Joe Burton, a 1970 graduate of U.D. and managing partner of Duane Morris, along with Dan Herling, a dual grad of U.D. and UDSL and a member of the UDSL advisory council, will host Dean Lisa Kloppenberg, who is participating in the ABA conference. You can RSVP to Beth Coffey at (415) 957-3055.

Please join us at this event in an effort to further bolster the growing UDSL alumni network, and keep an eye out for more alumni events where you live!
