The University of Dayton School of Law and the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio are co-sponsoring an event on campus called “Freedom Talks” on Thursday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m.
Join fellow civil libertarians to hear free speech hero, Mary Beth Tinker recount how she challenged a school suspension all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court after wearing a black armband in protest of the Vietnam War. Her victory in Tinker vs. Des Moines marked one of the most important decisions the Court has ever issued on free speech and helped guarantee that young people had a right to express political beliefs.
To RSVP, call (216) 472-2220. This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available. For more information regarding this event and others visit www.acluohio.org.
